The Andrews Family… minus daddy
Posted on August 27, 2010
Do you guys know what I happen to love most about doing this whole photography thing?
I love how it’s put me back in touch with so many people from my past.
People you used to know more than ten years ago hear you have a camera and boom! the e-mails start flooding in.
I’ve said it before, but I think adulthood is the great equalizer. No matter what group or clique we may have been in through our teenage years, we’ve all grown older and wiser. Most of us are parents, and we all know what it’s like to live life in the real world.
This is one of those beautiful people. Meet Lindsey and her children Alazar and Ruta.

Lindsey and her husband, Le, adopted these beautiful angels from Ethiopia.
You can read about their journey here. A word to the wise: bring your tissues.

I asked Lindsey if balloons were okay.
I mean, I love balloons but some people find them cheesy.
She rolled her eyes and obliged. Actually she didn’t roll her eyes. I love her because she was more than willing to play along.

I love bringing balloons along when doing kiddo sessions because they make them smile.
The only problem is that I also have to deal with the distraction they bring. The only way to deal is just roll with it.
Especially when mom gets goofy and instigates a balloon fight.

By the way, we started the evening with 10 balloons.
As they drove away from the park that day, they left with 1 single pink balloon.
Thank you so much, Lindsey, for letting me play with your kids and squeal, “They’re so adorable!” over and over again.
And for letting me take your pictures, even though you did just have family pictures taken.
I was honored.

Vanessa,
Thank you so much for such a fun, over the top photoshoot. I wanted Ruta and Alazar to be dressed up and fairy tale-esque so that they would know what a fairy tale it is for me to be their mother. I am honored that you chose to capture that for us! Your gift is something so special and I am so glad to have you back in my life.
Hugs and Love,
Linz
I just read your story on adopting your precious kids- i can tell you are a Godly woman with a servant’s heart and the patience of Job
Your kids are beautiful and it was such an adorable idea to do a ‘fairy tale’ theme…I honestly pray that when i become a mom that i will have the unconditional love, patience, and affection that you have shown your kids
